Antonello 's personal story and attachment to his native Sardinia are made explicit and integral to the handbags he designs. This interest is reinforced by a desire to preserve as well as advance craft skills that are at risk of disappearing due to globalisation & mass-produced designs. When studying at the London College of Fashion, he had the opportunity to be exposed to the full range of fashion and retail courses, all of which tended to reinforce and focus his intense interest in fashion. From this experience, researching into the old weaving techniques and visiting Sardinian weaving workshops, he started to develop a range of handbags with the fabrics his grandmother and his mother used. The decision to experiment with Sardinian hand-woven fabrics (produced in ethically managed factories & workshops entirely managed by women) resulted in an exclusive 'eco luxury' line of accessories that uses sustainable yarns made from naturally dyed Sardinian wools and regenerated-recycled cotton.
Antonello eco-friendly products represent not only a duty, but also an intriguing opportunity for responding to the demands of a consumer who asks for quality products, which means quality on an environmental and human level in addition to that of the product itself
